Attorney at law and Notary Public. Born in Guatemala in 1974. Licensed to practice law in 2001.
His practice includes Corporate, International, Labor, Tax and Intellectual Property law. He also provides counseling to local and foreign companies in international transactions and contracts. Rodrigo is currently the Director of the Patent Department, given his experience with patents, especially in biotechnology, mechanics, and pharmacology.
Rodrigo obtained his law degree at the Francisco Marroquín University of Guatemala, and further continue his studies in the Washington College of Law, of the American University in Washington DC , where he acquired a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies (LL.M.). He also studied Environmental law and European Union law in France , Germany , Luxemburg and Switzerland . His studies also include courses in the University of Mendoza , Argentina , and in Las Condes University in Santiago , Chile.
Rodrigo made the team of legal advisors to the Republic of Guatemala, for the 2004 issuance of Treasury Notes for US$330,000,000. The notes were listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, and has been the largest notes issuance in Guatemala 's history.
He has published, among others: “ The International Monetary Fund: The Cost of the World's Lender of Last Resort ,” 2001; “ Famous and Well-Known Marks under the Paris Convention and the TRIPS Agreement ,” 2001; and “ Los Contratos de Coexsitencia de Marcas y sus Efectos an Terceros .” 2000.
Rodrigo is fluent in Spanish (native) and English, written and oral.
