Attorney
at law and Notary Public graduated from University of San Carlos
de Guatemala. Mr. Cuestas, over his career has been involved
both in the financial community as well as in cultural world of
Guatemala. He is the current President of Fundación G&T
Continental and Chairman in the companies that form the second
largest financial group in Guatemala.
Mr.
Cuestas-Morales was also a member of the Monetary Board of the Central
Bank of Guatemala in 1984-1985, period in which he was an advisor
ad-honorem of the Ministry of Agriculture. At the same period he
was an advisor for the Board of Directors of National Developent
Bank (BANDESA) and INDECA. He has been vice-president
of the Agricultural Chamber and Director of UNAGRO.
He
was Director of Anacafé from 1983 to 1985, member
of Comisión Nacional del Azúcar in 1984-
1985. In 1999 he was Ministry of Culture and Sports of Guatemala,
and also a member of the Social Cabinet of President Alvaro Arzú.
Among
his honors, he has one from the Employees of the Anthropology and
History Institute. He has awards such as Flor de Liz ,
granted by the Scout Foundation of Guatemala; the medal of Señor
Sepultado from the convent of Santo Domingo ; and the award
Carlos Paiz Ayala given to the distinguished businessman
of the year by the Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala in the Social
Responsibility category (year 2006).
